TDI Fuel Filter Replacement

Hi all,
I have a 2013 VW Passat TDI and I am looking to replace the fuel filter. Does anyone know if I have to do anything special to prime the filter after installation?

All I had to do with my old vw diesels is fill up the filter with ATF or fuel. I'm not sure what to do with these new fangled machines.

Thanks

Don't use ATF anymore.
High pressure fuel pump may not be able to handle the more viscous oil & the injectors most likely are not designed to handle anything thicker than Diesel fuel.
The owners manual should describe a procedure. I always fill my filters with clean, filtered fuel, but a Cummins engineer instructed me never to do that because there is always the chance a foreign particle bypassing the filtration system & becoming lodged directly into the high pressure fuel pump or injector causing FOD ( Foreign Object Damage ).
I still fill the filters with clean fuel due to the difficulty of priming dry primary & secondary filters using the vehicle's starter & lift pump.
Your car. You decide.
