Front Wheel Bearing Noise

Post by VWJettaGuy »

Replaced driver side front wheel bearing and recently noticed noise gets louder when I turn to the left. Do I need to replace the passenger side front wheel bearing or did the drive side bearing go bad?

Assuming the driver is on the left, when making a left turn the right side will be carrying the most weight, if it's bad, you will hear it. Both could have been bad before the left was replaced and you are now hearing the right. These can be hard to diagnose.

Re: Front Wheel Bearing Noise - Fixed

Replaced passenger (right-side) front wheel bearings - fixed the problem. Diagnose technique - raise both front wheels off the ground, place one hand on the front coil spring and rotate wheel using the other hand. Repeat process for the other wheel. Hand on the coil spring will sense difference in vibrations if bearing are damaged.

Next problem.... Engine Cut off (when tank below 1/4)
